“Training in cinema and audiovisual media”
The audiovisual industry (radio, television and cinema) is a sector whose economic importance has grown considerably and whose sociological and cultural impact is self-evident: for a large part of the population, exposure to audiovisual media constitutes their main pastime and in many cases is the only regular source of information.
MEDIA (1991-1995) The MEDIA programme was created to promote the development of the European audiovisual industry.
MEDIA II (1996-2000): Programme encouraging the development and distribution of European audiovisual works.
MEDIA II Training (1996-2000). – is a training programme for professionals in the audiovisual industry
MEDIA-Plus Training (2001-2006): training programme for professionals in the European audiovisual programme industry.
MEDIA Plus (2001-2006): programme to encourage the development, distribution and promotion of European works.
General objectives. The programme's general objectives are:
• to improve the competitiveness of businesses in the European Union, in particular small and medium-sized enterprises;
• to support the transnational movement of European works and
• to promote linguistic and cultural diversity in Europe.
MEDIA 2007: programme of support for the European audiovisual sector.
The global objectives of MEDIA 2007 will be to:
• preserve and enhance Europe's cultural diversity and its cinematographic and audiovisual heritage, guarantee its accessibility for European citizens and promote intercultural dialogue;
• increase the circulation of European audiovisual works inside and outside the European Union;
• increase the competitiveness of the European audiovisual sector in an open and competitive market.
